I can NOT say enough about dandelion....it is the only thing I have ver seen or hear of that CURES it!!! And when I had it, my MW did NOT know that! It was only later when a doula client of mine had it and did a TON of research, did I find out (she had the same MW as me too...apparently it was news to the MW, but she was so impressed she made a huge deal about it 'cause the dandelion cured it!)

Doh! the search function did not work for me earlier haha...
I mentioned dandelion to her... but will give her some more concrete info! thankyou!
Other information that I have sourced (an FYI to anyone interested)
*Flaxseed oil
*Evening Primrose Oil
*Zinc, Magnesium and Calicum should be at recommended dietary levels
*Garlic
*amino acids (best foods being fish, or lentils)
Basically - as it is like an allergic reaction, you need to keep your immune system boosted and strong so that it can help fight it off...
Though I have heard that the dandelion is the best

I have a client who suffered from PUPPPS her entire pregnancy. She tried every remedy we could throw at her (Tylenol crushed into vaseline, ect). I sent to to a homeopath that I know and she gave her a rememdy which cleared it up in no time! The remedy is Dolichos Pruriens, it is easily ordered over the net and it is very cheap ... when I first sent her to my homeopath friend the remedy was 5 bucks!! She was thrilled. She also uses a special soap designed by a woman who had suffered from PUPPPS throughout all of her pregnancies.
My client is doing better, the rash and itch cleared up right away with the Dolichos Pruriens. I hated seeing her in so much discomfort.

That is strange, PUPPPS comes during the last few months of pregnancy, and it is rare to have it more than once. I've never heard of a woman having it during several pregnancies and during the entire pregnancy! Interesting
They are sure it wasn't caused by any of the other rash-causing things such as cholistasis (sp?)? Just curious! Thanks

I would think that Urtica Urens (another Homeopathic remedy) would probably work also. I took a course on homeopathy and it's all I use for my family. Urtica urens is from the stinging nettle plant, and the theory is - like cures like - so it works for symptoms that are similar to symptoms you would get from stinging nettle.
There's nothing worse than miserable while you're pregnant (well there are worse things but...) Hope she's feeling better soon.

I had it during both of my pregnancies - first time I got it at 36 weeks or so - right before Christmas, and didn't have a chance to spread too badly since I delivered at 37 weeks, it basically covered my feet and ankles. Second pregnancy, it started at around 6 weeks, and quickly spread to my entire body, with the exception of my scalp. I got a referral to a dermatologist, who gave me a prescription that worked like a charm. He said it IS rare to have it occur more than once, but it's likely that I will have it again, assuming I get pregnant again, and probably earlier too.
Ugh, it was worse than being covered with a 1000 mosquito bites!

I had it POSTPARTUM (extremely rare) and let me tell you it is one of the worst afflictions ever! The itching is so intense... it's positively orgasmic, you can't keep your hands off of it. None of the natural remedies did much for me (although I didn't try the homeopathics), the best thing I did was take up crochet & knitting. Anytime my hands weren't busy I had my crochet hook, that way I didn't have a free hand to scratch.
I would attend to strengthening the liver and organs of elimination- colon and lungs and kidneys.
I can suggest herbs like dandelion root but it would be better to go to someone who can assess your total health picture and suggest remedies appropriate to each individual.
Homeopathic remedies would be the same.
Tylenol is not good for the liver.
In my doula workshop the instructor gave us a remedy that must be filled by a pharmacist, but swore it worked. The pharmacy in Kansas City that mixes it is called Mahoney's.
Lidex 60gms
Lubriderm 420gms
Menthol 240 mL
She gave the price as being around $50 for this, but for many women suffering it is well worth it. For what it's worth she is a very experienced and respected doula who was an RN for many years also.
I can't personally vouch for this, but it's something you could look into.
My best friend had a reaction to the hormones producd while breastfeeding! I had never heard of it! It is basically triggered by an increase in oxytocin that is resleased when you breastfeed and your body can't handle the hormones and has an allergic reaction. She was absolutely covered head-to-toe in hives...yes, hives, and she saw three different OB/GYN's trying to figure it out, and her GP, and everyone told her that it must be something she was eating or wearing that she was allergic to, though none of her daily habbits (besides having a newborn! ) had changed! She finally went to a dermatoligist because she couldn't even sleep, she was in so much pain and discomfort. The dr walked in, looked at her, and said, "you're breastfeeding...aren't you?" She said that she was and he said that it is something that he sees all the time! I don't remember the name now, but he said that it is perfectly treatable with a RX that is safe to use during breastfeeding, but he told her that since it IS an allergic reaction that it would only worsen over time, so if the meds started to fail and she felt her throat begin to itch that she had to get to the ER immediately or her throat could close up! Scarey! She is still breastfeeding, though! So I've been sure to give her much praise for that. How many women these days would go, "hmmm...nursing is potentially life-threatening to me, but I'm gonna do it anyway!" She is now 5 mos pp! Anyone heard of that? I thought maybe that was similar to Emmabella's pp experience?

I have not had a breastfeediing mom with this but a friend had hives for 2 years! I figured it was hormonal (perimenopausal) but the docs didn't know what it was. She was under a lot of stress as well, not eating well, emotionally all over, bad relationship- a lot going on (maybe like a pp mom?).
I bet a lot of these things are hormonal. Again, it points to supporting the liver which manufactures and clears hormones. Also the hypothalamic, pituitary feedback.
Some things I have suggested are
St. Johns Wort oil, applied topically
Dandelion as food, tea or tincture
Oatmeal Baths
Flax seed oil- Internal and topical
Aloe Vera
Witch Hazel
Vitamin A
Belladonna 30c
Sepia 30c
Gold Bond Medicated Body Lotion
Band-Aid brand anti-itch gel
Washing Pine Tar Soap
Baking Soda Paste
Boericke & Tafel anti-itch cream
These are some things I have suggested.

I had this when I was pregnant with my DD... it started near the end - in my stretch marks on my belly - and then it migrated down to my legs - it was ALL over my legs and the last 2-3 weeks of my pregnancy were horrible - for one thing I was 2 weeks overdue and itching like crazy on top of it. My midwife told me the only thing that would cure it is delivering that baby - and she was SO right - as soon as my daughter was born it started drying up and went away! OH, one thing she did suggest was 'Caladryl' It is an over the counter cream with calamine lotion and benadryl. I doused myself in that - but that just gave temporary relief. I am PRAYING that I don't get it this time - but I am almost at week 40 with no itching - probably b/c I was lucky NOT to get any extra stretch marks this time around - which is where I am told it usually starts.
