Talking Where to learn?

I am brand new to homeopathy, naturapathy, and the like, but would like to learn more. I have tried looking on the Internet for places to learn, but I can't separate the valid information from the wackos ...

What are trusted resources for learning about herbs, oils and more during pregnancy, birth and postpartum?
I would be interested in learning more, not just for my business, but for my family as well. Is there a "gold standard" place to go, books to read, etc.
Thanks ladies!

This is a book I highly recommend. It is not pregnancy related, but family. It is titled - The Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine. It is authored by Michael Murray, ND and Joseph Pizzorno, ND. You could probably get it from Amazon for pretty cheap.

naturopthy, homeopathy, herbology

My understanding is that naturopaths and homeopaths receive extensive training. I do not know where you live, but in Northern California there is the Heartwood Institute in Garberville that trains among many things herbalist. Maybe contacting them would give you a lead.

For herbalist studies I would suggest starting with the American Herbalist Guild's site: http://www.americanherbalistsguild.com/. They can direct you to local and distance education options.

Herbalists who are reputable with published books:
Susun Weed (though she is a wild woman, and I wouldn't want to be her apprentice-- met her, know folks who apprenticed her lol -- but again, great written resources!!)
*Richard Mabey
Rodale's Illustrated Encyclopedia of Herbs
Michael Moore (Medcicinal Plants of the Pacific West and others -- also runs an herbal school)
Gregory Tilford
*Rosemary Gladstar
David Hoffman
Also The Yoga of Herbs (don't remember author -- Ladd, maybe?)

Homeopathic book authors of good reputation:
George Vithoulkas*
Stephen Cummings and Dana Ulman*
Trevor Smith
Michael Weiner

*good starting places

Check your local libraries and see what they have (I'm usually pleasantly surprised), then decide if you want to buy them -- plus, of course, many of the above have their own websites, so try searching them out too -- don't have the time right now and will likely forget later (mommy brain)...

Feel free to send me a message if you want more info, I've taken several classes on herbs and CAM (hende my nickname here)

Herbal Symposium

Here is a link to a wonderful symposium we have here in Northern California.
It is always a great gathering of women with tons of information and workshops.

Sounds like you want to get into the more formal way of going about this, but I recently read a book called "The New Age Herbalist," and it had a lot of interesting content about using herbs for various remedies. I'm sure this is a general book for the common people and not for professionals, but it suits me fine.
