Herbs for bad cramping..
This isnt much related to pregnancy since my dd is almost 6 months old but since she has been born I have the worse cramps EVER when af arrives!! Makes me wanna stay in bed all day they get so bad!! Almost like mini-contractions!
Anyways, what herbs are good to take for this?? Anyone know?

Hmmm.. I've never heard of Red Raspberry Leaf Tea helping with cramps (it used to MAKE me cramp during pregnancy) but I know for SURE that Motherwart Tincture is specifically used for cramps and anything to do with periods and even menopause.
I've made motherwart tincture before at my yoga instructors house. She told us all about it then. Are you breastfeeding? Because I have no idea if it's ok to use while breastfeeding. I know it is NOT something to be used during pregnancy though (in case others were wondering).

Red Rasberry tea has always been a very wonderful cure for both my mom & me,but I guess everyone has there own reaction to it.My mom's homebirth midwife highly recommends it.

My mom swears that with me her labor was in her thighs. After my birth her period cramps were in her legs. Then after my sister was born, 10 years later, the period cramps went back to the lower back/lower bellt ones.
For me I noticed after each of my births my menstrual symptoms changed. Like bleeding more toward the front, or the severity of the cramps, that kind of thing.
Red Rasberry leaf is good for women at all stages of life. In Susan Weed's Wise Woman Herbal for the Chilbearing Year she has a recipe for After Pain Brew.
1 ounce Cramp Bark or Black Haw root bark
1/2 oz dried Blue Cohosh
1/4 ounce dried Hops flowers
she says a little salt will improve the taste.
I'm thinking that you could make up your own MoonTime tea. You could go through what we've all recomended herbally and put in a little of this, a little of that. Remember to use peppermint for tast.
Susan Weed has a web site with forums and such. I wonder if you went on there they might have some ideas for you. I can't find the addy but I'd just google Susan Weed Wise Woman Herbal and I'm sure it would just pop up.
Hopefully this gets better for you. My other question would be - how many moon cycles have you had since your dd birth? The first one can be pretty mild, then the next a whammy.
Hope this helped in some way.
Jill

I always hear women talking about raspberry leaf tea, it isn't just something for pregnancy/labor it is a tea for women to drink at all times during their cycle. I would probably try that and possibly see someone locally who may be able to physically see you during your flow.

another tip, increase the calcium and magnesium in your diet. (i've been struggling with endometriosis for years so i've got tons of tips lying around lol)
switch to cloth pads too, and stop using tampons if you use them.

You know I have heard when using cloth pads women tend to have lesser flows also? Have you had that expierence? I never use tampons cause I can't get them to fit correctly so it's always been pads here.. I'm debating on going to cloth since we already use cloth diapers it wouldnt be that big of a deal except to dh.. LOL
I need to start taking a multivitamin anyways so I'll make sure to get one with extra calcium.. thanks!

cloth pads are wonderful! I switched when I was about 14, and I only use 1 tampon per day during my flow. I am thinking of buying the keeper, or the diva cup but don't have 30-40 for the product + shipping. I definitely think that I am much healthier and more concious of my erm flow output, heh. I also hated regular pads because they always seemed to give me a wedgie or something and cloth is almost barely there, but I have never had any leakage.
HIGHLY recommended. And I got mine from a girl who homemade them for only $4 each. I will have to make a thread about the keeper/diva cup/and cloth pads so that I don't clog up this thread with offtopic stuff.
& goodluck with your flow pains, I hope that you find something that works to help ease the extreme discomfort.
