A Fresh New Look

3am is really late for me, but I thought I'd throw you all a note before I went to bed to explain what's going on.

This evening, I ran an upgrade on our forum software and installed a new style and logo that I have been working on (along with a talented designer). I have several big changes to the site that I would like to introduce over the next couple weeks.

For now, you'll find improved profiles, private messaging, a new User CP, club members have the ability to have photo albums and upload pictures, you can comment on those pics, and we have a brand new social groups system which I hope you all will take advantage of! Ever wanted your own forum? Start a Group (this is a new system that WORKS! Old groups need to be re-created since we ditched the old software). Everyone can join Groups, but only Club members can create them!

The staff and I have been in discussion for weeks over membership, and we've worked it all out. Many of you would like the forums to feel more private and secure, so we're changing a few things. First off, instead of just registering for an account here, we'll be implementing an Application for Membership which must be manually approved by a staff member. Our hope is to cut down on people who shouldn't be here (read: those who are NOT doulas). Next we'll be introducing a couple more Membership levels, with different forum access permissions. Details will be posted later, but I thought I'd mention what we are working on.

Another thing to be released in the next week or so is an Education section, with research and information on as many doula organizations and training programs that we could find. We've tried to do some legwork for those who are still considering training.
