Clients with a cerclage

I just got a client with a cerclage. I know what it is and what it's for, but I've never had a client with ione before Anyone else have one? She was told that when they take it out, she should start laboring within a week. True or misinformation? I told her I'd go with her when it's time to take it out. Just wondering what everyone else's incidents have been like

When are they planning on taking it out? It may mean that labor will start soon after, it may not.

I have a cerclage for this pregnancy.

They take them out between 36-37 weeks of pregnancy and there's no guarantee she'll go into labor so soon after that. It depends on if she was already starting to dilate and efface.

I have seen babies go over due after circlage removed especially since it seems to be the new surgery to do on pregnant women until they can have a old enufbaby to section!! Sorry a bit jaded on the circlage stuff, yes some needed BUT what fries me is the 20 week vaginal exam that is closed.... so lets do a vag US on the cervix OMG it is funneling!! well is is really? is it normal variation for this person? Is the machine wrong? Would you have EVER known this if you didnt use the machine? Not effacing just funneling well lets just do a circlage just in case? Oh infection is rare no problem.....scar tissue that can have problems with dilitation? well if it wont open well just do a section no problem GGGRRRRRRR like I said sorry

I'm not a fan of them either but I didn't have much choice. I have an incompitent cervix due to having 2/3 of my cervix removed a while back (pre-cancer).

My biggest fear is that I won't dilate completely and end up with a c-section. I had my previous 2 children vaginally so a c-section would devestate me. I LOVE going through labor. I would feel cheated out of it if i couldn't deliver that way.

From what i've read about it though, you can still birth vaginally. I've had a couple friends who had cerclages as well and they too delivered vaginally. I guess I have to wait and see how it goes....
