Last client being induced tomorrow
I just got a call from the last client I'm taking before my baby is due, she has decided to be induced tomorrow morning. I'm happy and sad about it. Happy because now I can have a little break before my baby is due and sad because I don't know how long until I will do another birth. I'm gonna miss doula-ing
My client has a good chance for success with her induction, she is already fully effaced, due today, babe very low, and 2 cm. Her MW stripped her membranes today. I can't say I blame her for wanting to be induced, her MW is leaving town for a week on Wed and the rest of the MW/OBs at this hospital are pretty scary. I just hope to g-d this mama gets her natural, or at least vaginal birth. She's a really great person and I want to see it go well for her.
Please send some happy labor vibes her way. She's contracting a bit now so maybe she'll even go into labor on her own tonight! I'm gonna wear my new doula bead bracelet to her birth for luck.

Is this a first time mom? If so I would have pointed out that if she waited for baby, m/w would probably be BACK in time to deliver baby. Good luck.

I got the call a little while ago so I'll be heading over there soon. It sounds like her contractions got intense right away so that is a good sign! I'll update later tonight when I get back. I have my doula bracelet on for luck

She arrived at the hospital for her induction in labor! It was a Looooong labor and I was there for 21 hours. She stalled at 4 cm and was given pitocin. She labored the ENTIRE time without any pain medication. This mom was a trooper, I don't know where she found her strength and energy but she did. Baby was posterior, had a nuchal hand, and a cord around her neck!
Tiny baby girl was born this morning at 3:15 am and weighed 6lbs 7 ozs. She had a lot of trouble breathing (it was really scary) and needed resuscitation. It really frightened me to see her body so limp and lifeless after the birth. She was quickly taken to the nursery and still on oxygen when I left.
The nurses we had were unbelievable and so was the OB asst/MW. She actually talked mom out of an epi and encourgaed her to try some more. At one point everyone in the room was giving mom rubs, love, and words of encouragement and we were all talking to the baby. It was a great experience!
So now I'm on "break" for at least 18 mos I'm, exhausted!

Oh gosh! I really hope the baby is ok. Please update us when you know more....
Congrats to her for sticking it out. Sometimes childbirth can get the best of us (especially when it drags on and on). It's wonderful that everyone was supportive of her.

I had a birth like that not long ago- I was with her for over 24 hours- totally exhausted after it all!! Hope you get a good rest!
I'm pregnant too so I know how you feel about not being at birth for a while- I know I'll miss it but that's ok!
Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy

I left a message for mom yesterday on her cell and still haven't heard back from her. I'm hoping that she's just busy with new mom stuff and her baby girl is well but I'm worried. She's scheduled to leave the hospital either today or tomorrow.
