Help!! -@ hospital too early

I have a client that went to the hospotal TOO early today. She is not dialated past 3 she has been there 6pm mountian time. Doctor didn't come see her but phoned her and told her she had to stay. Nurse gave her Ambium. I am home "getting rest". While I was there the nurses were being REAL salty. Before I got there they were trying to convince her that CYTOTEC was a safe drug and that they used it all the time( she has been refusing this for a while) They want to induce her in the morning.. I accually heard this while entering the room. She is in early labor and has been all day.they are telling her that labor is when your cervix dialates. They were even madder when she asked them questions. They are turning around and giving me dirty looks like it's all my fault and I havn't said a word!
I am home now and will be going back in a couple of hours. I feel really discouraged and I am hoping his wont turn out like my first birth.
Please pray for us tonight. Thanks

Good luck hon. Remember it is her choice to stay there just as it was her choice to go. Get some rest.

I agree completely, but have to admit that when I was pregnant and even just dealing with average DR visits, I never felt assured of my rights, or as though I could truly refuse service. You may want to discuss this with your client. I was two weeks overdo and my water broke during a stress test visit / internal exam. I asked if I could go home since I wasn't having contractions and was feeling fine and was told I had to go over to admitting. I sat there for 3 hours, then another 4 hours in a hospital room (I kept myself busy walking, etc) but still - I really didn't feel as though I could leave.

I have issues with authority I know, not sure if I thought they would arrest me for trying to leave for endangering my baby, who knows what I was thinking - I guess my point is - if you believe your client shouldn't be there - make sure she knows her rights, that she can leave, or request different staff, etc.

Either way I am sending positive energy your way - make sure you try to stay positive too!

I was the same way! I went in to the hospital too early, but my water wasn't ruptured. I should have turned around and went home, but thought that once I was in and admitted and evaluated that I was "stuck".

If mom is still in early labor, why can't she just leave and go home? What are they going to do, tackle her to the ground? But then again, with the way that nurse sounds, she might? I would also tell her to refuse anymore vaginal exams. They may try to break her water without consent, then tell her see, you need to stay.

Is her water ruptured? If not, let her know that she can still go back home. I know it can be frustrating as a Doula to watch your client set herself up for a very medical birth when she says she wants otherwise, but all you can do at this point is to offer guidance and support and let her make the decisions. I hope the birth goes well. Update us when you can!
