Gosh I was hoping that wouldn't happen.

So I had two clients with in a few days of each other and our graduation ceremony to attend. Well not just attend, I am the one handing out the diplomas and one of the three on stage that shakes each graduates hand. So it wasn't like I could flake out. Anyways, my clients knew I had this and one of them assured me that yes, she would be going into labor that night. Sure enough. She called me about 12:30 to say her water broke. She hadn't even gotten home from her dr. appt. yet so just turned around and went back. So after running home and grabbing my bag I got to the hospital a while after she did. She wasn't having any major contractions but had started off at 6 cm from before her water broke.

I hung out a few hours until I had to leave in order to throw on my dress, fix my hair a tad, and get to the location of the ceremony. I had called my back up before and let her know what was going on. She came and sat with them while I went to graduation, ran back home, performed an amazing quick change again, crammed a piece of cold pizza down my throat and got back to the hospital. Called other client who had lost her mucus plug two days before and told her "while I'm here... feel free lol." Baby was born about 3 hours later by a wonderful waterbirth. Back up decided to stay as it would give her more experience. This was one of my mentees and is always a pleasure to work with.

You did both - congrats!

Hopefully Client #2 will give you a couple days to recover!

Heh, now I have the other client due and have been invited to a private party at Brent Sass's (Winner of the Yukon 300, pretty famous up and coming musher) house and one of my favorite bands is playing, at his house, for a private party... Wonder how much fun I would have not drinking lol.

Eh, as long as I have cell coverage I could stay. I might just go and see how many bars on the old cell phone I have. Cell coverage here is pretty spotty and of course, being a musher, he lives outside of town.

And of course, other mushers whom I would LOVE to rub elbows with will be there.

I just wish I felt more like going. I have been looking forward to this party for weeks, now just don't feel like going. Though if I don't go, I know I'll kick myself for it later. Mushers are a very close knit community and it is a bit of a challenge to break into their ranks, hence the surprise when I was invited.

I would totally go for it! Even if you can't drink, you would kick yourself if you sat at home all night with NO call!! Imagine how important you would look if you had to take an early leave because you are so successful!!

Heh. I decided not to go. I'm just too tired to get motivated. I have just had such a crazy week preparing for graduation and doing everything I need to do before I am off (all of June except for a couple of days) that I just feel worn out. I need to go back packing to get my energy renewed lol.

Here is a picture of Brent in a purple velvet dress during the Chena Hot Springs Passenger Race.

Yep, that was the same race I was in: http://cloud9doula.com/passenger_rac...enger_race.htm

Well, I'd say he was cute but....I'm not sure I can tell, but purple is definitely his colour.
Get some rest and you should go to the party! Even if it is just for a a little elbow rubbing.

K.
