Talking I have yet to formally introduce myself!

So, I figured that I would stop in and let you guys know who you have been talking to!
I'm a Libra! I will be 27 in October and I also drive a minivan! I had a son in 2001 (his story is down in the birth stories) from a previous relationship when I was in college. Then I met my husband who had a son (now 7 1/2) that he was raising (his mum died when he was 20 months). So we are the Brady Bunch! We decided to get married on 6-5-4 and then got pregnant on our honeymoon! I graduated college in 2004 w/ 2 degrees that I will never use! Our daughter was born March 2005 (I'm going to post her story later).
I have been at many births in the last 4 1/2 years as the support person, even if the dads were involved. At a birth in Oct of 2005 the OB told me that I had to become a Doula. So the whole way home I was wondering if this was something that I needed to make, like an outift, or if I needed to buy something. I called my midwife and she said that I would be perfect and gave me the websites of DONA and CAPPA and others so that I could choose. I called another SAHM and we decided to do this together. We started getting our name out there in Dec and went to our training in March 2006. Totally Empowered!!!
We are starting to get really busy and I am loving it! We registered our business, Mind Over Labor Childbirth Services, and we are hoping to start with CBE and LC soon. Our ultimate goal is to have a free standing birth center within 10 years. I say 10 years, cause we are the only Doulas w/in 60 miles and getting people to understand that birth is natural and you don't need to have every machine ever made just for your labor- that's groundbreaking around here!!
Thanks for listening and helping women across the world!

Honestly, that's a very nice introduction, although I feel like we've already gotten to know you somewhat! You just dove right in.... ....love it! Really, it's great to have you here; you contribute a lot to Alldoulas!

Wink

I hope that you all realize that Ashley introduced herself way back in MAY! Although, I'm sure that she doesn't mind reading the latest welcomes!
