Hello from Baltimore Maryland!!!!!

Hello everyone! I thought that since I joined alldoulas about a week ago, and dove right in reading posts and replying, that I should give you all a peek as to who I am.
My name is Tara Curtis. I live about 20 minutes north of Baltimore Maryland. I am wife to a wonderful man who was my college sweetheart, and I've loved him every day since then! I am blessed to have 3 beautiful children. 2 boys (5&4) and one darling little girl (who thinks she's the boss around here!)
I started this journey by being a labor support person in 1996. I assisted about 10 births between then and 2003. At that time, I was helping a friend through a very difficult labor (now I know her baby was OP) and the nursing staff thought that I was a Doula. I had never heard of a Doula, so after the baby was born, I spent about an hour talking to every nurse at the desk about what a Doula was and how I could become one. Then I went home and called my OB and asked her opinion. She agreed that I would make a good Doula, wished me luck and said that if I needed any help she would be there for me.
I completed my DONA training in March of this year, and have already done 2 of my cert births. The other mom has an edd of 7/28/06. I'm working hard at promoting my business throughout the community. I appreciate this website for all it's valuable suggestions and commentary.

Hi Tara,

I'm from Atlanta, Ga. and I'm going to my training next week!
but kind of the same happened to me.... I've been to so many of friend's birth and ladies from my church and it's something that I liked and helping and being with the mother, so when I heard about the doula a while back... it was just perfect...

Seriously, I've enjoyed your posts and am glad to read your official Introduction!

I'm a CAPPA Certified Labor Doula; I live in Ohio with my high school sweetheart of a dh, and our two teenaged boys. We also have 3 dogs and two cats. Yes we are outnumbered by our pets!

Anyway...I'm so glad that you've joined us here at Alldoulas and look forward to reading even more of your posts. This is a wonderful group of ladies! Welcome to the group!

AllDoula's is a great site.

Have you checked out Tiffany's resource pages yet? They're great! She also has free templetts for websites. A lot of us are just starting out with the "business" side of what we do. I, too, have done about 15 births in the last 7 years and am just getting around to certifications. Anyways, WELCOME to AllDoula's
