Hello fellow doulas!

I am new here, and am anxious to get to know you all! It may take me a little bit to get used to the site, but it looks like a great one to be involved in!

I am a mom to 4 beautiful children, although sometimes I wonder about the oldest two!

LOL My oldest is 9 1/2 (boy), then I have a 7 1/2 yr. old daughter, a would be 4 year old daughter (in heaven)

, and a 2 year old son who is an active little one!

I just started doula'ing in October of last year (2004), and I LOVE it!! I have had a number of births and am currently waiting to hear back from DONA about my certification!

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all a bit!

Hey Noelia!! Good to see you!

I was nosey, and called DONA yesterday. (I wanted to see what was happening since they cashed my check early last week). They said that the person that was looking over my paperwork was on vacation for a week, so that's probably the reason for the longer wait than yours. (hopefully that's the reason!)

That's probably the reason. I think I got lucky because the person that reviewed my packet had the time (it was Labor Day). She said they get a few different packets to review at once.

Hi Kelley. Looks like we might be close to one another. I am also in Southeastern WI

How is your doula practice going? If you don't mind my asking - who did you take your DONA training with? I took mine with Amy Gilliland and Karen Kohls several years ago.

Anyhow, a little bit about me. I am Michelle - mom to seven (six girls and one boy - the kids range in age from 17 yrs down to 4 yrs). I run a licensed home daycare, but also have tons of other stuff going on. I have a Hypnotherapy office and have my certification in that area. I also work for a local hospital as a childbirth educator, and work for another hospital as a staff doula (I would love to talk with you about this because we are really looking for more doulas!!!). I am certified as a labor doula with DONA and CAPPA (and am a labor doula trainer for CAPPA). I am also certified with CAPPA as a postpartum doula, childbirth educator, and as an adoption support person, and I am also certified as a Happiest baby educator.

I would love to get to know one another especially since we are close

Also I am not sure if you heard about the local support group that meets in the Milwaukee area - we rotate between Milwaukee and Menomonee Falls, so I am not sure if you would be interested in joining us.

Also how exciting that you are waiting to hear your status on certification. I'm sure you will hear the great news soon!!!!

I recognize your name from the CARE emails?? I get them frequently.

Are you one of the ones that lives in Waukesha? I grew up in Waukesha and lived there for the first 25 years of my life.

Anyways....good to see you here too!

I'd write more, but I'm off to a field trip with my son's 4th grade class!

So I see you found the CARE Network. Have you ever been to a meeting? Sorry if you have and I didn't recognize the name. I have been bad and haven't been to the last two meetings just because life is insanely busy
