Talking iHola Chicas!

My name is Cortney. Hello to all of you baby lovin' women!

I am 17 years old and I recently graduated Highschool & moved to Seattle, WA from Fresno, CA. I am currently working at Target and working on my Doula certification. In the winter or Spring I plan on starting school. There I will be taking my prerequisites to apply/hopefully attend Seattle Midwifery School.

I'd love to chat with you gals and possibly meet some Seattle/Washington Doulas so feel free to message me and say "Hello!"

Hi Cortney!

I looked at Seattle midwifery too....they look like a great program! Good luck with that! I just got my acceptance letter from National Midwifery Institute.

Just saving up some money for tuition now.

Hi Cortney and to the board!

It's so awesome to see someone young realize their dream and go for it! I wish it had happened for me that way in highschool. I'm curious to know, do you have family that are doulas or midwives? How did you find out about doulas--and midwifery?

I am looking forward to hearing all about your journey, I hope you stick with us through it all!

Cortney!

I'm Lori from Ohio. I'm a CAPPA Certified Labor Doula from Ohio (oh...I'm so tired and repeating myself! ). I'm happily married and have two boys....16 (17 in Dec.) and 14 years old. (They haven't got a CLUE what they want to do yet!)

I ditto that's it's REALLY great that you have figured out what you want to do at 17!! I'm so happy for you that you are going for it! I, too, have heard really good things about the Seattle Midwifery School! Keep up that fire and persistance, and you'll go far. I it that you've joined us!

Hey Courtney,
Welcome! I too am a aspiring midwife! I'm a certified doula through DONA International and I live in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I have three kids . I'm very impressed that you already know what your calling is, I did not find mine until I was pregnant and birthed my oldest baby when I was 20 years old.

I too looked at Seattle School of Midwifery, but I'm not able to fly so often to the west coast, it would be way too expensive and too long from my babies (this includes dh ). I'm starting my midwifery education with a local direct entry midwife who has started a small school. This begins in January! Currently I'm just reading as many books that I can get my hands on!
Good luck, and I can't wait to see your on topics and issues when they arise!

Thanks so much for all the welcomes and kind words! I am a frequent reader on Midwiferytoday.com forums and this place has already become a new delight! I haven't got access to internet as often as I would like, but I'll be around as often as I can!

Goodluck to all of you as well! It is so wonderful to find that there are not just a few but many women who share my dreams.
