Hello from the Hudson Valley

My name is Sakinah and I reside in Ulster County in New York.

I'm in the process of pursuing DONA certification, having completed the reading and receiving my training last October. I've attended two births so far, and have my third's EDD this week. My plan is to attend at least 2 more births before applying for DONA certification; I feel as though I can use the experience.

I am attending a local college to become a licensed massage therapist in New York State; my National Certification in massage is good in almost every state except New York.

I love this board; everyone appears very friendly and willing to share their experiences and advice. I look forward to getting to know you all!

again, Sakinah!! (your first welcome from me was in another thread)

I'm Lori, a CAPPA Certified Labor Doula from Ohio. I live with my wonderful dh and two handsome teen boys. I'm mostly a SAHM & homeschooling mom; I also help out some on a volunteer basis as a receptionist at our local midwive's office. Oh...I almost forgot! I'm just starting to work for certification through Lamaze International, via the Passion for Birth program, as a CBE. It will probably take a year or so to achieve this.

It really is so good to have you here, and it's wonderful that you've already started posting! We LOVE new members, and love them even more for posting!!! It's really cool that you're going to school to become a Licensed Message Therapist!!! We have a couple of other ladies here who are doing the same. I'm sure you'll enjoy comparing notes with them and supporting each other. Oh yes...good luck on your client that is due this week! I, too, have a client who will "go" any time (EDD 2/8). I'm so glad that you've joined us! I just know that you'll it here!

Welcome!!!

I'm Jill - SAHM of 5 in Northern California. I've been a doula for 6 years but am just starting the "business" end of doula work. What that means is that I need some paying clients! Not just family and freinds. I'm also applying for my CLE through Cappa and plan to apply to midwifery school in the fall.

Welcome! This is a great board with lots of support and positive feedback.

In Sisterhood,

Jill
