I am new to offering this service to my clients, do you think $75-$100 is a fair price to ask?

I plan on charging approx $200 once I learn this trade for the same reasons already mentioned, including a travel fee for out of town moms.

i think you have to balance a couple different things when deciding on a fee or fee structure. on one hand, placenta work is energetically intense work and it involves the cost of training (if any) as well as supplies. i think $20 and hour in addition to supplies & costs might be a good rule of thumb for your "hourly" wage if you break it down. cost of travel (if applicable) is another factor to consider.
on the other hand, cost prohibitive fees for something that is, imo, a "medicine of the people" is LAME. placenta services (or a doula for that matter) should not be something that only rich white women know about and can afford. therefore, it is really important to me to have an affordable sliding fee scale or some sort of fair and reasonable payment system.
when i started, i did the first 6 or so placentas for free and then just charged doula clients $75 for a while. i now consider myself quite experienced and i offer a range of placenta "products and services", not just encapsulation. i charge a sliding scale fee of $150 to $200 and give a %50 discount to doula clients. i am very open to trade or barter (one client's husband was a brewmaster and paid me in artisan beer!) and also willing to do low-cost or pro-bono work if necessary. i am considering raising my prices a bit but generally like to err on the side of karma rather than capitalism. i have demonstrated to at least 14 other doulas and midwives in my community how to do what i do and have not charged any of them.
everyone has to decide what their values are and what they are working for when they consider their fee. i think we should also keep in mind the larger agenda of promoting placenta benefits to every woman who wants it.

The average up here is $200 - $250.
That being said if a family has hired me as their postpartum doula, what I do on those hours is up to them! If they want to use their PP hours for placenta encapsulation then that is their perogative.
Otherwise, I charge $200 for client and $250 for non.
Around here, the "fee" is $250, the sliding scale goes all the way down to $150, but I also know that if someone wants it done and can truly not afford it, then they work it out, trade, or whatever.
