Exclamation Placenta Supplies for the Hospital

Please forgive me if this has already been answered! My laptop is seconds from dying and dh has the charger!

I am trying to make my list of things to bring to the hospital with me so I can pack as much as possible NOW and feel a little better about this bedrest thing. I'll never frogive myself if this little one comes and I miss this opportunity due to my own unpreparedness!

Can anyone tell me exactly what things I will need to bring with me to the hospital? Baggies (large freezer bags, I presume), ice chest to transport home? do I need biohazard bags or should they give me one? Any release forms? I know we've talked some about this but I'm feeling a bit anxious and overwhelmed!

TIA and if it's already been answered, just show me the way!!!

Tell them now that you're going to be taking it home with you. You can take a couple gallon sized ziplocks, but around here they package the placenta in a big orange biohazard bag. If they don't, you don't need a biohazard bag - you know what's in it! I'd take a cooler to keep it in and have dh or someone take it home and put it in your fridge or freezer asap. Good luck

When I took a placenta home from the hospital, they put it in a round plastic container (kinda like an ice cream container you can get some ice cream in at the store) and put it in their fridge for me until we left. Of course, I was only planning to bury that one with a plant of some kind...and it's still in the freezer...over 6 years later.

Thanks, ladies! I am working on birthplans and everything NOW so that I can be as prepared as possible for when this little one decides to arrive, whether that be early or on time (bc even if he's "late," it will be HIS on time.....that's what I'm telling myself! )
