i'm moving this question from the encapsulation thread to its own thread here.

there are a couple of options you could talk to her about.
- make a small amount of regular strength tincture, let it steep for 6 weeks or however long and then add to a larger amount of distilled spring water - she would only use a couple drops at a time added to water so the actual amount of alcohol would be about the same as eating as a brown banana.
- herbalist susun weed says: "People who refrain from using all alcohol can still take tinctures. Since alcohol-based tincture doses are small and diluted in water, the taste and effect of the alcohol is virtually non-existent. Many alcoholics indicate that herbal tinctures react like medicines in their bodies, not like alcohol. To further mitigate the effect of the alcohol, let it evaporate somewhat by adding the tincture to some water and letting it sit exposed to the air for several hours."
- you could try vinegar tincture but it doesn't extract as potently and wont last for years and years like alcohol tinctures.
- you could also try using glycerin as the tincture menstrum instead but it's a more complicated process that involves some cooking.
anybody else have any thoughts?
