Question What else do I need?

I'm trying to get all my encapsulation supplies together and I'm wondering...

The PBi "DIY" kit is $75. But I'm thinking I don't need everything in that kit. I want the encapsulating machine and the capsules/jar...but if I don't feel that I need their instructions, is there something else in the kit that I would need? I have a dehydrator to use and I have a grinder...what else do I need to put on my list?

TIA!

the capsule machine and caps are really the only specialized equp. you need (you already have the dehydrator and grinder and i'm assuming you have a pot, steamer, cutting board, etc). i posted a list of all supplies here - post # 46.

the PBi kit is basically instructions, cap machine, jar, and disposable gloves, apron, cutting mat, etc. the main thing you are paying for with the PBi kit is really good instructions since you can get the cap machine at new seasons or online for >$20. i mean, the kit is a great package deal and i'm really glad she offers them but if you already know what you are doing, its not as necessary.

one other thing you might want to get though is herbs for steaming. the traditional herb combo that most midwives use is a big nub of ginger, an organic lemon and a hot pepper like a jalapeno chopped up and added to the steaming water. if you have more than average bleeding and clotting, a tsp of myrrh powder is good instead or in addition to those herbs and if there was tearing then a myrrh and frankenscence combo is used. i get these at my local herb shop but you can order them online too.

Kristin! I was coming here to post the exact same question! I saw that Pbi has their encapsulation machine for $12 and some change. I have been meaning to check to see if any of my local health food stores have it. After another night of contractions 3-5min apart with some show, I'm getting reeeeaaaaally nervous....

Raeben, I wanted to ask if these peppers would be alright for the steaming process:

Just thought they were the oriental dried peppers that had been mentioned before (I think it was you, Rae, or the moondragon link you posted about using the tiny, dried orientel peppers)

Are their any good online sources besides PBi for tinted glass jars for preserving the capsules?
