Steaming

Went through the flyers in this mornings paper and saw a crockpot at Target for 15 bucks. Could you use a crockpot for steaming? On the next page was a rice cooker (I don't thing THAT would work! )

This is basically what I have except my steamer came with the sauce pan and is stainless steel. It will fit any 2qt sauce pan. http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html...t_adv_XSMG1060

i feel like a crock pot would be too slow. you don't want the placenta to be sort of cooking forever. you could probably find a functional stock pot and some sort of steamer insert at goodwill even. mine is an inexpensive ceramic coated pot - like the kind you use for canning - very easy to clean - and an old pasta strainer/potato ricer that i had owned forever.

if you can't afford matching stainless steel kitchen-ware there are still other good options - just don't use plastic strainers or steamers!
