Do you limit # of PP clients?

Hi there - I was at a Prenatal Health Fair and had a client want to sign me up for PP services then and there ( for me!) Well on the way home I remembered that I have a birth client who was originally interested in PP services but hired me for Birth services at our interview and has signed a contract for services TBD (to be determined). She is due Oct 9 and the new/interested client is due Oct 20 (3rd child) but thinking of wanting me to come in Nov. and the timing would be 3-6pm (her other dc are 7 &9) to help get kids off the bus and help with baby while she helps older sibs with homework. So what do you think? If I can organise childcare for my own family - would it work to have to PP clients due in the same month if I was to let the Oct 9 client know I was available between 9am and 2pm so that I can accomodate both mammas? I have backup for my births but the other doulas I know providing PP services are restricted by not driving so wouldn't be able to reach either client (both about 30 min from my home in opposite directions!) R

Hi Robin,
To avoid these sorts of conflicts my contract is extremely specific, in it the client has to sign up for specific days per week/for x amount of weeks/x amount of time per day. Then I can fairly easily schedule people back to back and even at the same time if needed. I do give flex of about 2 weeks around each due date where I tell potenital clients that I may need to start a week later, etc. b/c of a previous contract. Contracts are on a first come basis as far as who gets the first pick of times/days etc. Hope this helps some!
