Insurance Reimbursement Claims (Postpartum)

A new Postpartum Doula client wants to submit an Insurance Reimbursement Claim. I've never actually done this before...I've been researching online, and I think I understand the process, except for the "CPT codes."
One listing suggested specific codes for Postpartum Doula usage, but later, I encountered another posting that said the same codes were fraudulent because they were to be used by attending physicians in the hospital & included clinical procedures clearly beyond the Doula's scope of practice!
Does anyone have any solid knowledge regarding these codes? (or successful Postpartum care reimbursement?) Thanks!

Sorry I have no clue. I know DONA used to have a form on their website for coding and insurance reimbursement. You might want to check there and see if they still have it posted.

If they can't get it reimbursed one thing to let them know is that if they have a flex spending account through work they can usually get the money from there.

Thanks--DONA had info. and a code listed for Labor Doulas (not Postpartum). I e-mailed the person in charge of the relevant committee, but no response yet.

I know this is an older thread, but those in the same position might try looking through the codes at BirthWithLove.
Not sure what they have specifically for postpartum services... Worth a try!

Just this morning I heard about a few people who've had great luck with flex accounts, with the tip that it works best if mama submits the bill to insurance first and then submits the insurance rejection to the flex account.

I have had several clients use the flex spending accounts and get reimbursed as well. None of the companies would have accepted it though if I hadn't been certified. For the PP, a flex spending account is something some businesses offer their employees as a benefit. You can put a certain amount of your income into them pre-tax and use them for heathcare and/or daycare expenses. My husband has one and we use it for my DS's pre-school and for things like doctor's copays.
