Yippee, got a pp doula gig LOL

I am so happy - I have a pp doula job that I am going to start on Thursday. The only thing that makes me a tad bit uncomfortable is that the family doesn't want to commit to a certain amount of time, so I am not making them sign a contract. I am trying to be very understanding of that and so am not going to ask them to - they agreed to pay me my going rate and will pay me at the end of each day, so I am hoping I am not making a huge mistake. The do not know how long they want me for, so it is a day by day basis.

Wish me luck - I really hope I am not making a mistake by not having them sign a contract. So far the only people I have had sign a contract are those who will be long term. Other than that I have them pay me on a daily basis and we work out the schedule that works best for both of us.

This family has twins and a two year old. The two year old will be in daycare all day, so it will really only be me, mom and the twins home (one is on an apnea monitor while the other isn't).

Congrats on the PP job!!!! I think that you get to know people and most people who have searched things out will pay for the services..it is good that they are going to pay at the end of each day...I wish you all the best...keep us posted on how the job goes...

Congrat's and good luck! I'm finding that it's fairly common that folks don't want to commit to a specific time period at first...soon they'll see how great you are and they won't want to let you go!

Keep us posted on how it's going

Yay for you! I agree with Jessica - once you start, they probably won't want to let you go!

That's great! I think that as long as they pay you every day it should be just fine hopefully.

I think in this families case the mom wants me there, but I don't think the dad wants to spend the money. Plus I think they are a great family who really does want to do it on their own - unfortunately they have twins and a two year old and mama had a cesarean birth so I think they are kind of picking the best way they can to get through.
