I am seriously considering becoming a pp doula as well as birth doula, and started looking on DONA for local workshops. Closest I could find was 3 hours away. Most of them were very long plane rides away! Anyway, I couldn't believe the cost! Nearly $500 for three days, not including any meals! My doula workshop was $185 for three days, including ALL meals!!! Wowzers! Is this the norm for pp workshops? Should I look other places besides the DONA website? I would appreciate any input! Thanks!

Wow, $185 and you got your meals!!!! Who did you train with (which certifying org?) Most of them that I have seen have been around $300.
This was through DONA. It was awesome too--in the mountains of NC, and instructor rents a cabin for the training, so we were all sitting around on couches and comfy chairs, and could go outside to the decks and balconies to practice comfort measures. Plus there was that wonderful jaccuzi! We got meals, snacks--it was wonderful! She said she wanted to "doula" to us all weekend.

I found one in Charlotte, NC for $300! Much more doable, and I won't have to get a hotel room either. I was only looking through DONA, and then i was like there are other organizations out there! So I will certify for PP through CAPPA!
