Question What do you give to prospective clients at an interview?

I've had a couple of interviews and am wondering what you give potential clients. I've given them a brochure, a couple of business cards, a list of what's in my lending library and some handouts like "Rights of Childbearing Women", "State of Birth". Is this too much, too little? I don't want to spend a ton of money giving stuff away without much in return but I would like them to go away with a little something.

I bring my contract and some doula/dad fact sheets, plus the Mother Friendly "10 questions to ask" info. I like the idea of adding "rights of Childbearing Women". I think the information helps them get a feel for your perspective and causes them to ask themselves some deeper questions. Never a bad thing

In my doula service's packet, we have the contracts and business stuff; breastfeeding info, LLL leaders info, brief overview of labor and childbirth, birth vision worksheets, and Edinburgh PPMD screening question sheet.

I am going to add for my use, a coping style/getting to know you worksheet.

I plan on supplementing this by bringing a binder with different handouts, with maybe 5 copies of each, and the mom can pick the things that interest her. I have handouts on perineal massage, epidural info, pain relief desire scale, vbac confidence desire scale, affirmations, positions for labor, and informed consent.

There's a section about this on the Popular Doula Questions page.

I give my clients a folder with one business card stapled to the front and one in the pocket. Also:

Dada and Doula
2 copies of my contract
More detailed page about the services I can provide (I can provide monitrice services so I have two separate sheets that detail what each does and does not entail)
1 SASE (best idea ever! Thanks alldoulas!)
Recommended reading, which includes my lending library
Questions to ask a doula
Sometimes the CIMS fact sheet on inductions

I bring my binder to show clients, but I don't leave it with them until I get a deposit and contract. I used to bring ore handouts, but I felt like a couple times I was providing may too much info and service during that initial interview for free......
