Birth Bag at Interview?

Hi.....

Do you doula's bring your birth bag to the interview? Or do you wait until they hire you and then bring it to the first pre-natal??

I have been bringing it to the first pre-natal, but was wondering what you all do.

Thanks in advance!!

I have to say I do bring it with me all the time, to each prenatal. Just in case I need anything, or to show or demonstrate anything to my client.

No way would I bring it to an interview. I have my birth bag as a permanent fixture in my car, and to be honest sometimes never even show it to the mothers, because reality is I hardly ever use anything from it. I encourage mom's to bring their favorite massage oil and if they have a massager. All our hospitals have birth balls, so I don't need to bring that with me.

Wink

I don't bring my birth bag to the Interview. I DO bring it to my prenatals (or at the very least...the one when I'm going to talk about/demonstrate options for comfort measures). I never use EVERYTHING in my bag during labor for every client, but I almost always use some of the things (which things depends on mom's preferences, of course). I like for them to feel like they've had exposure to some of the things that we might try before they actually go into labor. HTHs!

I have been bringing my birth bag to the first prenatal, but not the interview, but started having second thoughts about that....

Your info was great!!! I have an interview this morning, and I'll leave my birth bag at home!

Thank you very much ladies!!

Kelley - I can tell you one of the reasons I don't bring my birth bag anymore is because if people see everything that is in there they expect you to use it all on them, and if you don't they tend to feel like you haven't done enough (especially if a mom wants an unmedicated birth and then has a medicated one).

I remember when I started out I had this huge bag, and now I have it down to a very small suitcase.
