Pretty Alternative
I have always said, "what got the baby in there, helps to get baby out, so in early labor spend lots of time being together (safely) lots of kissing, stroking and really getting the oxytocin levels going"...
Well I had my very first client who took it literal just lastnight...
A mom being induced, on 48mil of pitocin for 16 hours, no epidural 8 cm dilated and really moving and responding to her body, when she first threw off the hospital gown... then while on her hands and knees she began to fondle her own breast, then reached up grabbed her husband and began making out (husband says "If you ever would have asked me if I would be french kissing my wife while in labor I would have said you were crazy", because my wife never shows PDA).
Then she throws herself to her back and begins masterbating... her husband looked at me WIDE eyed and I motioned, it's ok. He maintained his dear in the headlights look, as she continued with every contraction... then the nurse came in and she didn't miss a beat... waited until the contraction was over and said "sorry, it's the only thing that is calming me down".
She went on to deliver a 9 pound baby vaginally without medication!

Wow... i don't know how I would have handled that. I imagine that I would have felt like I should leave the room!
Good for you. and her, she obviously is pretty comfortable with herself.

I don't know how I would write that one into the birth story OR how to talk about that one at the postpartum meeting.

A lot of women actually have orgasmic births but don't talk about it much. If you do a search for orgasmic birth, you will find a lot...

Oh I can't wait until the postpartum visit.
I will sing her praise and tell her that I was proud of how well she did!!! And thank her for feeling safe in my presence to do WHATEVER felt right, and boy did she.
The hilarious part was... dad was right at her side surrounded by the bed, the night stand and the iv pole and the warmer (small space) and when he stood his pants were wet... and he looked surprised, until I pointed out that he was sitting right under the cold wet wash rag I hung on the IV pole - LOL
It was a long - long birth but reflecting on these types of moments makes me happy again.

And yes one would have to be very comfortable with sexuality and all that comes with it, to have stayed in the room... and I'm proud to say, I never batted an eye. I kept those cool rags coming and verbalizing continual encouragement... this one goes down in the history books for sure.
Thanks ladies for sharing in my interesting birth (to say the least)
