What is YOUR success story?

If you had to choose just one, what would it be? It could prenatally, postpartum, or anywhere in between.

Not quite sure what you mean by this...every birth I've attended is it's own "success" story, although a few stand out simply because of the circumstances, the mother's sheer will or the "emergency" that was supposed to happen that didn't.

"If you limit your choices only to what seems possible or reasonable, you disconnect yourself from what you truly want, and all that is left is a compromise."

". . .there is a world of difference between compliance and commitment. The committed person brings an energy, passion, and excitement that cannot be generated if you are only compliant, even genuinely compliant. The committed person doesn't play by the 'rules of the game.' He is responsible for the game. If the rules of the game stand in the way of achieving the vision, he will find ways to change the rules. A group of people truly committed to a common vision is an awesome force. They can accomplish the seemingly impossible."

Mine is in the latest issue of the International Doula in an article I wrote.

Mom was told she should have a cesarean for her estimated 11 pound baby, told outright by the consulting OBs for her MW practice that "These are the situations where we get sued." Lost faith in her body, had to build her back up etc.

She pushed out her baby in like 45 minutes, baby was just over 9 pounds.

I love this one, Angie!

I guess I have lots.
But... I had a mom who really wanted an unmedicated birth as part of a healing process from a past violent rape. (many years ago)
SROM and no ctx...so she finally said yest to PIT. Dr comes in and says 'what are you doing awake..you should get an epidural, you still have 20 hours to go"
Mom did not want an epi, but was scared she could not have intense ctx for 20 hours. I told her no one said she had to have ctx'x for 20 hours.
She was complete in 3 hours, and had the baby out by hour 4, without an epidural. Got the OB out of bed at 3am. YES!!!!

Oh.. and of course being there for my daughters totally intervention free birth in a hospital. She refused absolutly everything. Did not even have an IV or EFM. She choose to squat and do yoga moves, and made the nurse listen with a doppler and check her on her hands and knees. My daughter and her stubborn streak and strong will are awesome!!

Beautiful stories, Michele, especially your daughter's.
