Fun conversation with a nurse

Last month I was at a teen birth where the mom had an epidural. Just as it was taking effect and mom was dosing off, I sat down. The nurse came and sat by me and asked if I have ever had children. I told her about my eleven. She asked if I ever had an epidural. (Like it was some candy or something.) Ok, now I'm having fun.... I told her that my first 5 were in the hospital and the last 6 were at home. No epidurals.... She was kind of dumbfounded....silent for a minute...then got back to work. LOL It was great.

I wonder what prompted her to initiate that conversation with you.

Thanks for sharing though

I think I have been asked at almost every birth I've attended if I have kids and some do go further and ask where and if they were unmedicated. I've chalked it up to either being friendly or wanting to see if I've actually been through what my client is going through.

The birth (my first) I just gave support for I had each nurse ask if I had children and how many, etc.

I can just imagine people's faces when you tell them you have 11 kids. I have an aunt that has 12. My family of 5 was the small family lol.
