Hypnobirthing Scripts and Rainbow Relaxation
I have just been hired by a couple tonight who are using HypnoBirthing for their birth. I have attended a training with Jenny West (love her) for Labour Support only 3 weeks ago and my last hypnobirth went awry ... that was the uterine rupture and plancental abruption.
Anyway, I just feel stupid right now and would appreciate someone sharing scripts, prompts and the rainbow realxation with me. I know I should pay for it and I will (eventually), I just need some guidance to get me through this birth. my training was suppose leave me feeling like a pro and unfortunately I don't. Can someone help me??? I would be eternally grateful.

Just get the Hypnodoula workbook
I would suggest you get the Hypnobabies Hypnodoula workbook. I think it is $50 and it has scripts adaptable for any childbirth hypnosis program, explination of hypnosis and use in childbirth and even an extra CD of a script to practice with your clients. It is not enough on it's own, but it can be used with Hypnobabies moms and moms doing other hypnosis childbirth programs. It is totally worth the money.
You might want to check it out on the hypnobabies.com website just to see if you want it. I just got mine and am glad I did.
blessings,
micky

Thank you both. I want to stick to HypnoBirthing because HypnoBabies might be different. I did google scripts using various combination of words but I got nadda! Ah well, I will keep looking and hopefully something will come through.

The couple may have the Rainbow Relaxation script but generally the couples that do HypnoBirthing do not receive scripts to practice with like they do with Hypnobabies.

It is different but has adaptable info
Hypnobabies is different - very much so but the hypnodoula workbook actually gives you a cd and scripts specifically geared to NON-hypnobabies hypnosis clients. It can be tailored to any hypnomom. It will only strengthen her hypnosis, it will in no way jepardize it.
Just might be worth checking out. Maybe call Kerry at hypnobabies and ask her about it or ask around to see if anyone you know has it and is willing to let you have a look.
Blessings,
Micky

My boss borrowed my HypnoBirthing book but I'll try to get it back from her tomorrow and see what you still need by then! I'd be happy to share!

Script?! for birth??? I get it...I know what you are referring to with Hypnobirthing and the script thing. But everytime I read about this prep it gives me the heebie jeebies. Every hypnobirth I've been to has created an enormous amount of birth trauma from which the mama has to heal before she ever gets down to the real business of mothering and bonding - and rightfully so. Long...long labors...hours of "breathing the baby down" - it'd be nice if it actually worked but I'll be the voice of doubt here.
Just be present for this mom - if a doula or anyone else gets caught up in scripts and such she's gonna miss something that is being called for. It'd be impossible not to.

I am a Doula who uses Hypnobirthing as a tool, not for every woman, but for those who desire to use it. Just like I would not use water for every woman. Each woman and her birth is unique...
I have seen incredible Hypnobirths....Mom and baby are both relaxed, with minimal interventions. I have also experience a client who had HELLP Syndrome diagnosed upon arrival to the hospital who stayed in a relaxed trance state clear through despite the multiple procedures and chaos that ensued around her. The hospital staff was incredibly impressed.
There is much that goes into the success of Hypnobirthing and Hypnobabies. It is not something that you can just decide to do 2 weeks before birth and have great success at. It takes practice to learn to reach a deeply relaxed state. The only time I use scripts is in recording special CDs for my clients to use and in prenatals sessions... While in the birthing room a script should not be needed... By that point you have set your anchors and cue words and it just requires support and attention as it does with any other tool we use to aid our birthing mothers...
In regards to scripts I would recommend the books "Calm birth" by Newman, and "Hypnosis for a Joyful Pregnancy" by Conkling Hypnobabies intro book is also a very helpful tool and has two very helpful scripts in it...
I have found two vital parts is shifting the mental process of birth from a process outside of her body to run from and back to a vital process within our bodies that we inherently know how to do... When a woman truly embraces this in her mind her body will follow...
Another important piece is to have as little interruption as possible allowing the mother to relax within and stop mentally processing everything that happens around her. I and her partner act as the intermediary between staff and the mother... We do not keep them away from her but ask that they allow me and her partner to approach her and be the bridge. This allows the mother to stay in a relaxed state and still communicate. This has usually shown great success..
Namaste,
Tia

They took the 5week course and I took a training for labour support 3weeks ago, I just want to be prepared as my other Hypnobirth went right out the window, there is a post on it I just don't know how to link.
I never spoke to her about anchors or cue words ... I guess I will have to call her tomorrow and ask. All good things to know.

I used hypnosis for my last birth and it was by far the most peaceful/ non-traumatic birth I've had (as well as the most serene birth my midwife has ever witnessed). Of course it's very individual but to say that you're more likely to have birth trauma just does not ring true to me (or my past students). I find any birth that doesn't have bright lights, frantic coaching, valsalava pushing etc... to be automatically less traumatic (which is often the case with hypnosis or any birth where the mom is prepared aka informed and lacking unreasonable fear).

new to hypnobirthing
WOW, I am study everything I can find about hypnobirthing as I have a client who wishes to use this. She has used it before with success, but thinks it would have been even better with more support AKA a doula. I have had minimual training in my doula classes, but now I am collecting every peice of info I can. She is using hypnobirthing any info on this method would be greatly appreciated. I have the book. I would like a cd does anyone know where these can be found? Thanks

http://hypnobirthing.com/doulasupport.htm
They will be having one day Doula Support Workshops but do not have their schdule for 2009 up yet. I will be watching for one in my area. The workshop is one day and costs $150
Also if you go to hypnobabies.com, you can order a Doula workbook and CD for supporting a mom using this program but may also be helpful for the other. The price is $50

my hypnobirthing instructor (who is wonderful) has some downloadable audio scripts on her website: http://hypmama.com/ (they're like $7)
HTH.
I found it nice to use her recordings working with moms in the hospital based doula program because none had been exposed to the birthing practice previously, so if I needed to say something to mom or dad (i.e. relax), the whole script didn't need to come to an abrupt end. ETA: I've actually had great success with Hypnobirthing without traumatic results for moms when the moms were open to other ideas, willing to relax and weren't panicking with every contraction. I am pretty selective about who I try this option with, as I don't think hypnobirthing is for everyone.
