Exclamation Stubborn Transverse Breech

I have a client whose baby is transverse breech and has been lying this way since at least the 14 week ultrasound (she is 34 weeks now). She has been receiving chiropractic for a number of weeks (Webster method plus general pregnancy adjustments). So far she has tried cold/ice packs to try to "chase" him into another position, heat to encourage him to move, getting down on all fours to strengthen abdominal muscles, and lying on a slanted ironing board. Baby kicks and wiggles but has not budged an inch. She's hoping for a VBAC but it is impossible to vaginally deliver a baby sideways!!! We're also working with reflex and acupuncture points and will try a few other ways of inversion (a la spinningbabies.com style) this week.

Any thoughts???

Oh, I forgot to mention she and her husband have also tried talking to the baby, using a flashlight to guide the baby down and also headphones/music.

Have they done an U/S to find if there's an anatomical reason the baby is lying this way? Short cord? Malpositioned placenta? Something that won't LET the baby turn right side down?

She's had an ultrasound in the last four weeks and she was not informed of any anatomical issues.

I was going to say the same thing as Cathy. Sometimes there is a reason with cord length and such as to why the baby can't change positions.

I just wanted to update everyone: my client had some serious flu-like symptoms Monday night through Thursday = the baby turned and is now head down!!! We tried just about everything in the book so we don't know what worked but something did! Or all of it did.

This is what I was thinking, too.

That's great news! I hope she gets the VBAC she wants....I had a client who also tried everything in the book and in the end baby stayed transverse and was delivered by c/s...had the cord wrapped around its ankle.

The only other thing I would have suggested was a hypnosis session with some tapes/CDs to practice at home.
