My favorite book for pregnancy concerns (when I am pregnant) and for my studying is Holistic Midwifery Volume 1. (I really like her book Understanding Diagnostic Tests in the Childbearing, to help explain various tests, too. Helps explain what they are, when one may consider them, etc.) My favorite birth dvd is a free video with UC births on it. I love how lovely and simpley it shows how to trust birth. A good book for moms prenately is Mothers Intention (how belief shapes birth) by Kim Wildner.

Holistic Midwifery, (Vol 1 and now Vol 2), as well as Understanding Diagnostic Tests.. are by Anne Frye. The UC birth video is put out by a woman on an unassisted birth email list. You send in a blank video and a SASE with enough postage to get it back to you and she sends it back. The thing is, I don't think she is doing it anymore. I read a discussion a while back that several women had sent their tapes in quite some time ago and hadn't heard anything or received any reply. If you still want to look into it, you should join the cbirth list on yahoogroups.

Hey Cami, I am in Kansas City as well!
One of my favorite references is the Labor Progress Handbook by Penny Simpkin, one book I always refer to with pregnant mothers would be Birthing from Within, and my favorite DVD so far is Birth Day, although it isn't exactly instructional, it shows a very beautiful birth.

For the mainstream mama-The Birth Book, Sears
someone a little better read on birth- The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth
Dad/Partner-The Birth Partner(this could be a reference as well)

I am currently reading the Labor Progress Handbook...it'll probably go down as a favorite as well.

Don't have favorite videos yet
