Contraction Timer

Hi there - just wanted to share that I 'found' a pretty neat gadget. I was at a birth last week and the client was contracting every 2 minutes from VERY early on (1-2cm!!!) - I know the midwife didn't doubt me but she wanted to 'see' how often/long they were but not put the client on the monitors again (YAY!) so she whips out her Treo phone/palm and told me to keep track of contractions on our next circuit of the hospital (15 minute loop) with the warning to come and get her if her phone rang!

Well she had a Contraction Timer on it - you press the screen at the start and stop of each contraction and it calculates the frequency and duration of ctx's (and sure enough they were 2 min apart and lasting for 1 min!)

I searched the Palm website and couldn't find it - I looked for freeware and found it here. Just wanted to share - I know I have had some clients who have loved their stop watches - this would have been a more beneficial record!

I used the one on-line: http://www.contractionmaster.com/index.html
a while back when I was having BH cxs (of course I didn't know that's what was going on at the time) and I found it very useful, you just press the spacebar. But I did find it a bit annoying that the screen pulsates red druing a cxs. Of course, if they were real cxs, I probably would not have even noticed it.
