I am giving a private CBE class to some parents who just found out that they will have to have a c-section at 38 weeks. I don't need to go into the details of why. We have had 2 classes so far, with 6 more classes yet to come. The mom has asked me to eliminate any of the upcoming class content that she won't need. Does anyone have any ideas of specific topics that I should make sure to cover in the next few weeks? I'm planning to go over c-section and basic hospital procedures, and ways to make her c-section as family-centered as possible. I will also talk about postpartum issues for both mom and baby, and breastfeeding. We may end up cutting the classes short, and the mom is fine with that. I just want to make sure I'm giving her what she needs, since I've never been in this situation before. Thank you!

definitely writing a great c-section birth plan... making it family centered as your said. Perhaps you can spend more time talking about the complications that can happen with breastfeeding with a surgical birth, and how she can deal with those potential challenges. do you have a local ICAN chapter that might have a meeting you could attend together? or perhaps an LLL meeting?

you can include they (probably) still have the options of doing a lotus birth and/or placenta encapsulation. please share what you end up covering in your classes.

Can you share what you teach to prepare them for a c-section?
