And I think this is a bunch of whooey.....Whoever believes this must not have ever had a baby. I have seen children in my womb turn and look at their dad talking during ultrasounds! Newborns Don’t Bond Immediately with their Mothers

They may not immediatly 'bond" but the process certainly starts pre birth for most women. The bond between mother and child forms over days, weeks, months and years. Of course some women never bond with their children....the ones that should not have them in the first place.

I would argue that if babies aren't bonding with their mothers right away it's because we are forcing them to be detached. Lets compare babies that go from womb directly to mothers chest and then directly to breast to babies that come out and are whisked away for a couple of hours and given a bottle by strangers right away. No, babies may not be able to clearly indicate a preference at 2 days old but that doesn't mean they don't have one...and I'd bet that baby's mother knows what the baby's preference is even if a psychology student doesn't

And it's based on one study done 12 years ago.

It really doesn't bother me and in part I can see where they're going with it.
Babies will bond to their caretakers. It's not an "instant" OMG your my mom or dad and I never want to leave you, kind of thing.
Sure babies recognize sounds from the womb, but they don't have any way of telling if that's their dad or just someone that mom frequently interacts with so the voice is familiar to them. I've had babies react to my voice that way at times. It's a familiar sound, it's human, they turn to see what they can in order to try and understand what it's all about.
Bonding is a process for babies, and that's what I think this article is trying to say.
