Looking somewhat like a torture device, most people either love it or hate it. The vast majority of my clients have loved it, however! It stimulates the nerves in the scalp, causing goose bumps and shivers, which many find pleasurable (that's also what a few won't like about it ;)). It's easy to clean/disinfect with bleach, and mine collapses to fit in its own little storage bag, which was included with purchase. Mine stores very easily on the side of my doula bag. I bought mine at Bath & Body Works for $6 USD, but it is often priced more expensively, at around $20 USD. I recommend The Tingler Scalp Massager, especially if you catch one on sale! :thumbs

I have one of these, but have never had a mama like it. In fact I took it out of my bag and now use it on myself and the kiddos when they get headaches. Ds has used it when he starts to get a migraine. (Unfortunately though mine is old and I broke a few "legs" off of it so I need a new one - mine is battery operated and vibrates so it looks slightly different then the one in this picture).

Quality depends on the brand. Sanitizing them is my problem. My hubby hates it. I love it. Depends on how sensitive the scalp is I guess!

If it is all metal you should be able to sterilize it easily in a dry oven. Wipe it down well with a damp cloth, followed by a dry one, then put it in a 200d oven for 30-45 minutes. You could even wrap it in a couple of layers of clean flannel before putting it in the oven to make it easier to move around without burning yourself when it is done 'baking'.
