I'm pretty sure we do, but I don't quite know what they do as I am not a part of it.

Our site is now up, but it's not done yet... http://www.doulasri.org
We hosted a screening of Orgasmic Birth last night where Debra Pascali-Bonaro was there to speak to the audience and answer questions. We had a great turn out! :dancing And I am so excited about the the possibilities for RI birthing environment, and networking in general. We are a bunch of passionate women. :D

I'm working on that as we speak. I've sent out emails and posted on relevant forums.

I have a lot of doulas interested :O)

We have one that is in the southern part of our state, one 2 hours north of me, and sot-of one about 45 minutes south of me, but not in my direct area. I want to connect, but it's tough because I work full-time too. I'm planning on meeting with a childbirth educator (ALACE trained) in my area and another birth professional that is trying to get birth professionals together, so we'll see how that all goes. I'd like to see doulas be a little more proactive in my area, but I'm not even sure if there are any other than myself!!

We have regional birth networks I have been a part of, and there is a province wide doula organization but I am not a part of that.

I did a similar thing as above. It's a birthnetwork not a doula org. My apologies.

I have tried with a few others to start something here and it always fizzles before taking off. This will be good material for a future thread.

Nothing in my area. I am completely isolated!

There is one in our area, but it seems to be more of a professional affiliation - like a group practice . They only take so many members and have a waiting list. :waiting :shrug

I would really like to find someone willing to back me up - at a minimum, but getting together for networking and training sounds like a dream come true. If anyone knows of such a thing in New England area I would love to know about it.:dancing

Even though I've recently started a group for Delaware Doulas to come together monthly and meet I think I'm also going to start Birth Network too. The Delaware Doulas is specifically for doulas to meet, swap ideas, do case reviews, swap books, support, training workshops, doula training program, annual family picnic, etc.

Yep, here in Colorado Springs we have the Pikes Peak Regional Doula Association (PPRDA), 11 members strong! www.csdoulas.com We meet once a month and have the first hour set aside for business and the second hour set aside for the public.

For the public portion of the meeting, we have Meet-The-Doulas on odd numbered months and Birth Professional Info sessions on even numbered months. This month we are talking about insurance re-imbursement for doula services.

Since we have been together since 2001, we are fortunate to be the "go-to" group for the birth community. We have been invited to speak at events, participate in health fairs, provide in-services for L&D nurses, etc.

Our doula network is better than your doula network... :D:dancing
Just kidding, but really, ours is really awesome.

It's like a mini alldoulas, with special emphasis on local doctors and hospitals.

Yes we do but I am not a member because of an upcoming move. I don't see the point of joining for handful of months.

Not a Birth Network, but specifically for doulas. Coming together, meeting on a regular basis, educating the community, supporting each other, sponsoring events, seeking continuing education as a group, and networking with each other and other birth professionals?

I've organized a group that meets monthly for our local doulas. I would call it semi-organized ;). We support each other, network, seek continuing education, but we haven't done any sort of community education, events, etc. I would love to get more organized, and might have more participation if we were. But I have so much on my plate I might never get there! I'll be checking out these websites for ideas and inspiration. :D
