I've been invited to do a 45 minute workshop/presentation on any topic I want pretty much, at the Shelter Valley Folk Festival in Sept. It is a folk music festival with a focus on wellness and sustainable living. I need to come up with a title and description for the PR materials this week, but don't need to have the actual workshop ready until Sept. 3rd. I could have 5 people show up or it could be 50. It is outdoors under a tent, no electricity etc. What I've come up with for title/description is below... do you think it's specific enough to gain interest AND vague enough for me to figure out what to present in the meantime??? title: Birth Matters descr: Childbirth is not just a "woman's issue". It is an issue of human rights and sustainable living as well. Childbirth is a significant event that has both an immediate, and a life-long impact on the lives of the mother-baby, and those who surround them. This presentation is given by certified birth doula Sarah Stogryn of Brighton Ontario, and is open to women and men of all ages.

The description is great; it sounds interesting to me and convinces me that I want to know more about the topic.
I don't know about the title, though. It lacks... something. For me personally, the title and description don't quite match.
You're on the right track, though. Birth does matter!
I'm not really helpful when I haven't slept, am I?

I like the description but would lean more on copy that mentions sustainable birth, green, eco-birth, eco-baby, eco-families. Keep us posted

Thanks. I'll be leaning more towards the sustainable living side of things mostly because the human rights issues are just SO HUGE I can't possibly do them justice in 45 minutes, but don't want to ignore them either because they are important.

Well, it's done. And I think it went over pretty well. There were 7 women & 1 man present (a local chiropractor), plus DH & of course myself. Which was about average attendance for the other workshops I saw, so I was pleased with the turnout.
Contrary to my plan, I ended up focusing more on the human rights side of things and it was hugely eye opening I think (well, if the dropped jaws, tears, and shaking heads are any indication it was eye-opening at least). I was really tired when I gave the presentation and not feeling 100%.... so I cried a couple times when talking about women with fistulas and so on.... but they were a forgiving little crowd and sometimes my emotions just get the best of me when I'm presenting something I'm passionate about.
I'm relieved that it's done, hopeful that it'll make a difference, and focusing on my Herbal course from BAI now.
