So i have a client who is wanting a VBAC and she and her husband are both Family practice doctors! She has done so much reserch and her husband will be checking her cervix at home before going to the hospital. I consider my self a preatty experienced doula but i am a little stumped about what i can offer this mom prenatally!! She is taking Hypnobirthing class and our first visit we talked a lot about her first birth and way this time around she could avoid the same things from happening. I am not worried about offering labor support i feel very confident in my skills for that part. I am really looking for some ideas of things to do in our next two prenatals!! Thanks

Ask her what she needs from you. While they may be FPs do they do OB? My FP doesn't, so while she learned to catch babies in med school she's so far from that now that we'd have plenty to cover in terms of comfort measures, coping techniques, etc that we could fill prenatals.
Maybe ask them what they'd like to receive from you in terms of information and education based on their current knowledge base and go from there. That's what I do. I have a client right now whose husband is a MD and he's delivered babies in the past, but he doesn't want to be "The medical authority" in the room, so we've talked a lot about how to allow him to be just "dad" and how I can identify if he's slipping into "DR" mode and ways I can step in and take that burden off of him.

I'd work on practicing labor relaxation, maybe do a guided relaxation exercies, watch some good DVDs (if you have them) and also do the taming your tiger (overcoming fears) exercise, which I do with most clients, esp VBACS.
