I am 99% sure that I do not want to train and certify through Pbi, but finding workshops that are local to me is also difficult. I'm having a hard time justifying money spent on airfare, hotel, car, and food for for a 3-5 hour workshop.

I was wondering how many of you have done your own training and offer encapsulation services to clients and what your experience has been.

thats kind of the difficult thing about placenta service providers - there are clusters in some areas and then a ton of other places don't have a single placenta lady within 500 miles! its a bummer for moms and also makes it difficult for people to learn in their area via quality mentorship or training.

there are quite a few people who have self-studied but you have to be careful what info you learn from - there's more bad info out there than good and some people have learned to do it in ways that are unsafe. if you search through this form for resources and info you could get an ok start but i'd recommend contacting an experienced placenta lady via phone or email to ask questions after you've studied as much as you can and before you actually start doing encapsulation.

there are more people independent of pbi doing training workshops now too and some of them are good but some of them are just amateurs trying to take your $ so again, its good to have a mentor to get knowledgeable opinions from.

I'm self-taught with a little guidance and advice from another local doula. I also haven't heard good things about Pbi, but I'd love to learn more... I just don't know where to go. I've only done maybe 8-10 placentas so I feel like I still have a lot to learn!
