Hi ladies! So my first client (who's also a friend) is due next week, and I'm really excited! The last time I met with her and her husband, we discussed all kinds of things about her birth, and somehow, it got decided that I was to bring in music. In hindsight, it would've been smarter of me to tell her to bring her MP3 player and I'd be happy to play DJ, but I missed that opportunity, and now I just have to do my best. Any suggestions as to how to do this? I have no idea what kind of sound system (if any) the hospital has, and I don't really know how to load music onto my husband's MP3 player, or create playlists. Do I need to bring speakers? Would headphones for Mom work better?
Also, I'm clueless about which songs to use. She told me she likes classic rock, which I don't really associate with birth, per se, although I do own lots of music from that genre. Do you guys have any great birth playlists that I could use for inspiration? I'm meeting with her again on Saturday, and I'm hoping she doesn't go into labor before I'm ready for her. I'd appreciate any & all insights. Thanks in advance!

I would get in contact with her whether it be in person or even over the phone. Gentle discussion indicating that you are having some difficulty trying to figure out the most appropriate songs to bring because music in the birthing room (and music in general) is such a personal thing.
Tell her that you think it may be best for her to bring the music that she would enjoy listening to.

since she's a friend, invite her over for a listening session and let her chose from what you have! (or offer to bring your music to the appointment so she can chose from it afterwards.) take cold chockolate, offer a foot bath or a hand massage and just enjoy yourselves as friends! let us know what you end up with, it's always good to hear from others.
