 Toddler earache & teething?

Azriel is 13 months. She's been very healthy, only had one cold which she got over in a day with no meds, but unfortunately she has taken after me with lots of ear infections (I had a horrible double ear infection when I gave birth!). She has all 8 front teeth, and now a couple molars are trying to break through. I know it is common for both of these issues to be related, or possibly she's only grabbing at her ear because she's experiencing jaw pain which can feel like it's in your ear.

The kicker: no insurance... My husband's step-dad is too lazy to pay him legitimately, so we were unable to reapply for her Medicaid and are kind of waiting on my husband to find a new job, while keeping our fingers crossed she'll stay healthy in the meantime.

Is there anything someone could suggest for ear pressure/build up, and teething pain? We use oragel, but I always think about how I'm basically rubbing cocaine into my baby's gums... Even if we have to take her to the doctor with a credit card, there's no way we'd be able to afford any prescriptions.

Thanks in advance. :vanish

If you google "natural ear infection remedies" you'll be presented with a ton of options that you can ask the doctor about over the phone. A popular one that you can look into is olive oil and garlic.

Are you breastfeeding or do you have a friend who is? Breastmilk dropped into the affected ear(s) works wonders! I know this may sound hokey to some but this is what I used with my own children and it was amazing how quickly it worked. I have also heard some mention garlic olive oil dropped into the ear. It makes sense to me that those ingredients could help but, if you can, breastmilk is the way to go.

Dairy! Or, none at all lol. Henry used to get recurring ear infections that were so bad that he was pretty much deaf, and the ENT guy at the children's hospital wanted him to get tubes. I called my cousin who is a naturopath, and she said to try cutting out all dairy b/c a dairy sensitivity almost always shows up in the ears. So, we did - poor kiddo was pretty much vegan, but within 2 weeks his ears were fine and he could hear AND talk. Now, I know thats not the solution for everyone, but it's a pretty easy one to try and very effective quickly if it's the right one. Good luck!

I hope she feels better by now but we go see the chiro. Has she been getting chiro care? Evan just went today b/c he had an earache and will go tomorrow morning again. She said it was red inside, but not bulging so hopefully we caught it early and he'll be fine. He hasn't complained since an hour or so after seeing her. Garlic and mullien oils are supposed to help. All of my kids have had tubes and it was a good decision for them but thankfully they've all fallen out so we're just in maitenance mode and they've outgrown all their food intolerances and reflux.

garlic and mullein oil warmed up in the ears helps.
have you tried hazel wood necklaces for the ear problems?
amber necklaces for teething and teething tables or gel from Hylands. =)
