I searched the use of Ginger on here and got a little feedback from it, but I was wondering what you all thought of it. My sister had something brewing in the crockpot during her labor and delivery at the birth center she went to (I labored there several years before her, with out this concoction). I want to call up there and see what was in there, but from what we believe it was JUST Ginger. And after she had the baby they dipped washcloths and used them as a compress on her perineum. So have any of you seen this? Used this? I just LOVE the smell of ginger as a relaxation scent in labor. I was considering using it and bringing a crock pot in my birth bag.

I have read about this in one of my doula books, she said it works very well. Personally, I love ginger and seltzer water for nausea, also I have been known to make a fresh cut and just smell in extreme situations. It just makes me feel better, and alive but in a more relaxed way. I have also read that fresh ginger will bring down swelling, but I would check this out, especially with regards to placing on cut skin.
