I understand allergies with clients. Recently I had a client who's son is allergic to all dairy, eggs, berrys, and nuts. A taco bar was a good solution for many reasons - it can be reheated when mama gets hungry, and it was quick for me! I made 1 1/2 # of ground hamburger, sliced lettus, tomatoes, and shredded some cheese. I packaged each in a different baggie and labeled them. I added some whole wheat tortillas, and they loved it.
I also like to bring something to put in the freezer - like meatloaf or a casserole. Simple meals that they can transfer into a oven and have a meal. I love the nursing station set-ups too. Water bottles and snacks are a must :)

I love to cook, so incorporate cooking into the services I offer. I have made up a menu of suggestions, with prices, if I bring the meal ready-made to the home. I also offer to make anything they wish in the home, as long as they understand that the needs of the Mom and baby come first. I get a great reasponse to this - so many people don't cook from scratch much anymore. I have a list of 'one-handed' snacks that I give them - it can be posted on the fridge for those 'baby-brain' moments. Finally, at our last visit, I give them the recipes for the dishes they liked best.

I barely want to cook for my own family... so no, cooking for someone elses is not part of my job description.

I love to cook and would like to cook more for families. Most I've been working with aren't interested. That said the ones that are have loved salmon so I make up lots of salmon patties with dill sauce so they can munch on them for a quick easy meal or snack.

AJ, would you be willing to share some of your recipes and how you charge for them?

Happy Birthing!

Just remember b/c you are cooking for clients that if you don't have a food prep license and say they would get food poisoning you could be liable. I cook for all my cleints but only in their home with their food ingredients. I don't want to risk the liability otherwise. I had no idea about these regulations until I learned them in my doula training class.

bumping up :) i'd like to know of any pro-recovery meals out there!!!
i'm thinking of making some dry mix meals like risotto with mushrooms or falafel, fill all the ingredients in a glass jar and then all DAD has to do is add water and cook :)
then i'd love to know your favorite postpartum recovery tea recipe!!! please share!
