Postpartum Doula Services in the Hospital?

Do any of you experienced postpartum doulas ever get hired to give doula services in the hospital? I had a mom contact me who said that because the hospital she was delivering in didn't have a nursery, that she needed help while at the hospital. I have never heard of this... don't the nurses kind of help you with stuff?

twice I have been hired to start the day o birth in the hospital. both were planned c-section births with mom wanting rooming in and dad being obligated at home to an older sibling.
