I got the call at 9:25 tonight that the local doula I am shadowing's client is possibly in labour for my first hospital birth I can attend. Our hospital only allows 2 people in the room with Mom, so I didn't think I would get this opportunity. It is a single Mom so I jumped on the chance. Mom was just heading to the hospital. I am ready and waiting to go. She was 6 minutes a part so I am guessing it will still be a while but you never know. I can't sleep, I am so excited, nervous, etc. all at once.

I figured I could post on here as I am sure most of you would understand.

I have wanted to be a doula for almost 6 years now. I joined All Doulas over a year ago but now it is finally happening (my kids are done nursing and a bit older now) I figured I would post.

Thank you for all the information that has helped me so far on my journey.

Fingers crossed the doula I am shadowing will call soon so I can go to the hospital as well.

Thanks for listening!

Ahh so exciting! I just returned from a birth that I missed the actual delivery of as she gave birth at home unexpectedly (2 weeks early)! They called me at 6:30am saying her water broke, I get ready to go and 15 mins later the dad calls and says 'we just had a home birth!'. So crazy! Everyone is doing great though. But it was supposed to be my first hospital attended birth, didn't work out that way!
Good luck, keep your cool and it will all kick in..
