Hi all! Sorry for not coming on yesterday-- I caught the stomach bug that was going around in my house :(

Leaving off on what Tina stated, if this mutual agreement is added to the TOS...would it help? B'earth angel--this gives you the option to decline when approached about it. Also, regardless if Tina was replaced by someone else it would already be on the TOS at which point we would be violating the TOS if we took something without you agreeing to it. The new TOS would then have to state that EmpowHer would only use a posting approved by you with your signed consent (or something of that nature). That way you still have the power to decide whether or not you want something of yours to be used, what exactly will be used, and where it will be used. What do you all think?

I look forward to reading your responses. Have a wonderful weekend!

I'd be ok with that, thanks.

I would be satisfied with this as well.

Thank you very much for your consideration of our feelings and hopefully, after this tenuous start, we can forge an even greater AllDoulas, together.

Feel better Rosa.

I think that sounds like a reasonable compromise. Can we also add something to the terms stating that they will not be modified in the future without some kind of public notification? I think one big things members were/are so upset with is the fact that we were not notified of any changes and were repeatedly told that nothing had changed. I think letting members know that any future changes will be transparent will go a long way in making them feel more comfortable.

I'm curious about "trackbacks" and how this new feature will work ? Does it also comprise doula privacy by having our posts linked by anyone to other websites and blogs without the doulas permission or knowledge? Contributions on this site are only allowed by doulas. So would open it up to non members having access to the posts. I don't really understand this in the context of this type of closed forums.

AllDoulas.com - LinkBacks

Are the Trackbacks relevant for use if EH is going to change the TOS to "ask for permission before using our posts for advertising, publicly or whatever" you want to do with our words.

Morning everyone!

Glad to say I'm feeling much better this morning. Thank you all for the well wishes! :)

On an even brighter note, I'm glad to see all the positive responses on the wording for the TOS.
I took notes on: revoking of permission, if this would be for paid AND unpaid members, and adding communicating prior to making changes.

As soon as I get a response on these concerns I will pass it on to you. Have a good one, ladies!

Ok, here are the responses I got...

1. Can permission be revoked? Unfortunately, once the agreement is in place, it cannot be revoked -- as this would require pulling all of the info from say various media outlets -- which is extremely difficult.
--I would say to agree to having something of yours used only if you are sure that it wouldn't be something that you would change your mind about later on.

2. Do these new TOS cover both paid AND unpaid members? The private boards contents will NEVER be used. So, these TOS are only for unpaid members.

3. As far as communication goes: Whenever we are aware of changes, you will be notified through All Doulas prior to them actually being changed so as soon as we find out about changes, you'll be the first to know.

I hope this answers your questions, ladies!

I appreciate all the work you're doing on this RCabrera. I feel much more comfortable posting here with the changes to the TOS that have been discussed :)

Hi ladies,

I wanted to post clarification on my last post. I wrote "TOS are for unpaid members only" which could be misunderstood as "Paid members are not protected" That's NOT what I meant. I meant that the TOS apply to everyone, but because the private boards will always remain private, the TOS are not applicable for the private boards. Hope this clarifies any confusion. :)

Hello everyone, again great feedback. With regard to announcing changes to the site (including the TOS) we are striving to make announcements at least 24 hours in advance. Totally understand where you're coming from here. Also am collecting your thoughts on the TOS and want to run it by some folks here in our office. Hope to have some clarification next week. Thanks again. Hope you have a good weekend.

I like the dialogue about the proposed changes to the TOS. I'm not crazy about a blanket agreement that lasts from here to eternity w/out revocation rights though.

I keep checking the TOS to see if the change has been made to remove the blanket privileges for use of content. It still looks the same to me. Any time line on when we can expect the change to be made?

Hi everyone!

Just wanted to let you know that the TOS will be changed on Thursday, March 10th. Here is what the new TOS will be changed to:

By submitting postings to the Site, you grant us and our affiliates the right to contact you and request written consent to use, copy, display, perform, distribute (through multiple tiers of distributors), adapt, translate, edit, and promote your Postings with your written consent in any medium and any manner we choose, and to use your display name to attribute your Postings to you if we so choose. We recommend that you do not use your personal information in your user name/display name to protect your identity and personal heath information. "

Thanks!

Is there link that can be posted? I've been searching everywhere and I cannot find this document to verify the changes.
