We were told that users were screened before they were approved. So then how do these spammers keep getting through. It's very annoying!! I'd be more than happy to be a spam patroller who can hide these Darn posts till a mod can remove them and the member.

Angie, I'm not sure where you read that users are screened before they could post, but that is not the case currently on these boards. A member needs to verify their email and answer a few questions but that's it.

I would LOVE users to be screened before they are approved and I am working on trying to get that in place. The recent spam is ridiculous. When someone is banned (which all the spammers are) their IP address is banned as well, but they keep getting new addresses and new names. I agree that having users pre-screened is the way to go. I hope that we see this in place very soon.

What questions are they asked. That's what I was talking about = screening. It'd been mentioned back when EH took over. Obviously the questions being asked aren't effective. E other day there was a username that was clearly a spammer and it was let through so someone obviously missed the mark there. It's just annoying.

They aren't screened by a human Angie. We are working as hard as we can and as Dorothy said, she has been working with EH to get another system in place. So no, none of us missed any marks.

To clarify they means EH not our member moderators. back when EH took over EH led us or at least my understanding was that an actual breathing person screened potential members to make sure they were or on that path. It was during the Dr Amy discussion as some feared shed show up here. Perhaps I misread. Regardless I don't blame our Doula mods, but bring it up here as it is the help and feedback forum.

EH does not have an actual person screening potential members. I do appreciate you bringing it up and want to assure you that the doula mods here are on the same page as you. I am working with EH to find out how we can put that in place (having an actual moderator approve new members) When that happens, it would be the Doula Mods who are the ones doing the screening, not EH. It doesn't prevent someone from lying, but I think we could week out a lot of the spammers that way.

I've been "reporting" the posts today - there seem to be more than usual.

We appreciate our members reporting spam posts; that brings it to our attention much quicker. Please keep reporting them!!
