Aahhhh! I'm frustrated because I just spent almost 24 hours in the hospital with a client who delivered via c-section, revealing she didn't progress past 6cm because baby was malpositioned presenting the side of her head. After finding this out, I know there are positions we could have tried. Uuggh. Just frustrated and just wanted to vent. Thanks.

There are tons of other things that still piss me off (to be boldly honest) and I'm still in no state to discuss it all. I'll write more soon. The good news is momma and baby are healthy and alive. Praise God for small mercies.

Sometimes things just plain and simply suck.

Sometimes I would take an experience like this and remember if labor is not progressing that it could be a possibility and start doing things to help it. Remember that sometimes no matter what you do, you can't get them in the right position. I had a birth like that. We tried everything, the mom tried, the doctors worked hard too....and in the end, she had a c-section.

When you try everything and nothing works, that's when I'm glad we do have the c-section.
Also, found this story on another site:
My Birth Story « Doula Momma
Baby was presenting left mentum transverse, face first and impossible to deliver vaginally. But they didn't know it at the time.
Author writes about the things she would have done differently throughout her pregnancy and during labor, if she'd only known about optimal positioning. These tips are good to remember, I think.

That is almost a very similar story to a client I had, except they had her pushing and realized that something was wrong after that...there was a nose down there....that baby was so wedged in there...it was scary!
