My Services:

I cover Fairbanks and the surrounding area.
How far out depends on the season at the time of your due date and how comfortable you would be having your specific distance for me to travel. I have experience in hospital births, home births, birth center births, unmedicated and medicated births, vaginal and surgical births as well as water births.

I provide labor doula care and initial breastfeeding assistance.

Optional services include:

Breastfeeding Education and Consultation
Private Childbirth Education and Breastfeeding classes when neccessary
Video and book lending library
Postpartum doula services. Though this is limited to special cases, I have a nice source of referrals to some wonderful postpartum doulas.

Baby wearing supplies and instruction
Belly casting
Henna belly art
Extensive Referral Network

I work on a sliding fee scale. While I do have expenses that I need to cover and a normally set fee, I would not want anyone to go without my services because of a set fee they felt they could not afford. I am open to payment plans, bartering, and reduced fees.

About me:

My name is Georganne. I was the Alaska State Representative for DONA International for two terms. I am the proud Forum Leader for the Henna, Belly Casting & Body Art forum here at AllDouas. I am a Certified Breastfeeding Educator. I own AlaskanDoulas@yahoogroups.com and am the Moderator for DoulaNet@yahoo.com.

I took my original doula training in Kennewick, Washington in 2000 and took Advanced Doula Training by Penny Simkin herself in Oklahoma City in 2001. I took another doula training in August 2005 as a refresher. I also helped to create and taught a portion of Bassett's hospital labor support program, Bassett Empowerment Support Team (BEST). I have attended numerous birth and breastfeeding related seminars and workshops. My Curriculum Vitea is available upon request as well as referrals.

I have a BA in Secondary English Education and graduated from the University of Southern Colorado in 1998. I have two children, one of which was born by planned homebirth.

My favorite non doula hobby is backpacking, hennaing, geocaching, and dog mushing.
