[font=Palatino Linotype]I am a certified birth doula through DONA(Doulas of North America). I live just outside Winston-Salem, NC. I am married and have three girls of my own and a stepson, all ranging in ages from 16 to 3. I feel that empowering women and their partners in the birth process is a very important role that needs to be filled. I am here to give you physical support, emotional support, and informational support. That is, letting you know that there are options for you during your labor and birth. It is always your right to ask questions.
During the labor process it helps the laboring woman to know that there is another female that is going to be with her the whole time and not leave her side. To let her know everything is okay and to support her 100% in her actions for the kind of birth she wants to have. This is not my birth, but yours, and I want it to be as wonderful a memory for you and your partner as it can be. This will be a day that you will remember for the rest of your lives and it is my job to make it a positive one. I am here for the partner also. Not to take their place, but to help them with ideas and suggestions on how they can best help you through labor and delivery.
I have experience in the following areas: Natural childbirth, VBAC with no pain medications, induction, Pitocin augmentation, SROM (spontaneous rupture of membranes, AROM (artificial rupture of membranes), Stadol, episiotomy, labor positions, pushing positions, IV fluids, external and internal fetal monitoring, catheterization, intrauterine pressure catheter, amnioinfusion, supporting a mom with breast cancer/mastectomy, bottlefeeding, breastfeeding.
