I just emailed them last friday and by monday I was told they were in the mail. I plan on giving in the welcome packet with info on how to order them for their delivery if they like them. I was told dum-dums work just the same. But I like the name.

Honestly? I think everyone likes them because they have cute packaging and they send out free samples by the boat load.
Otherwise, lollypops by another name would be just as popular.
it's straight sugar. I can't, in good conscience, recommend that to clients. I don't think it's harmful, but it's not healthy.

I think anyone recommending them should check out the Free Sample Ethics thread.

i don't think they work any better than just a plain lollipop or hard candy. and i think other remedies for nausea might work a whole lot better. i don't like that the samples i received were mostly corn syrup. i don't feel good recommending them to clients.

Not everyone is as concerned about sugar or corn syrup as some others. Besides, some sugar during labor is a good thing and helps to prevent baby from getting low blood sugar in the first place, which shows up as decels and often times results in unnecessary interventions. I allow my clients to make their own decisions, including whether or not they want to use preggie pops. If they want them and like them, then I have no problem with giving them a sample if I have one to give. Those that have wanted to try them really liked them. I no longer give out samples, but it has nothing to do with "ethics", which sometimes is mere opinion, IMO.
